Concerns that Barack Obama would be forced to tone down the transparency and social media activity that had so characterised his presidential running campaign were relieved today with the publication of the Official White House Photostream on Flickr.
The photos mark Obama’s first 100 days in charge, and are, frankly, extraordinary. In 293 images, we see the most powerful man in the world playing with a football in the Oval Office, chatting to Hilary Clinton at a picnic table, putting on the White House green, hugging his wife Michelle, chatting off-set with Jay Leno, playing with his new dog, shooting basketball hoops, wearing 3D glasses at a Super Bowl screening… and various other remarkable shots.
It all adds up to the most privileged access granted by a President – or indeed any political figure – ever seen. Hopefully there’ll be much more to come.
