Take this quick exercise:
- Go to the Google home page and type “site:” followed immediately by your website’s URL. For instance, site:www.amazon.co.uk
- You’ll now be able to see how many pages on your site are indexed by Google. In other words, you’ll be able to see how many pages on your site that could be ranking for your top keywords.
Google, in common with all the search engines, absolutely loves fresh content. Its spiders love nothing more than finding new pages to index, and indeed the frequency with which they return to a website is closely related to the frequency with which the content on that site is created.
